Brain Games

Weight Watchers Magazine (May/June 2010 Vol. 43 Issue 3) Pg. 48

This article titled "Brain Games" by Akiba Solomon was about new research of ways to keep memory sharp. One idea was to play video games with your kids. Learning and memory games may improve cognitive function. Another idea is to be social. Public health research determined that seniors who socialize the most have the slowest rate of memory decline. Another good idea is to eat green and drink blue. Research suggests that antioxidant and vitamin B-rich veggies help to keep your brain sharp. Also, the article suggest that if you prefer your memory boost in liquid form then try blueberry juice. Lastly, one should hit the weight room to improve memory. Doing an hour or two of strength training exercises per week enhances decision making abilities.

Chapter 6 deals with memory. The book discusses memory trace decay. It is a physical change in the brain, which occurs when a memory is formed. Over time, if traces are not used, then it will fade into nothing. Therefore by playing video games, socializing and eating green, perhaps we could truly save our memory from decaying.
